Chapter 1 — 1980s

The Visionary Rebel

Every great empire begins with a single leap into the unknown. For us, it began when our father, Mansoor Khan, left his home in Kolkata and traveled to Delhi with nothing but a determination to build something extraordinary.

In Delhi, he encountered traditional cane work. Where others saw finished products, Mansoor Khan saw flaws — and more importantly, he saw untapped potential. Believing he could elevate the craft to a higher art form, he picked up the tools himself.

He didn't just make furniture; he crafted time machines. With a vision that stretched far ahead of his time, he began designing royal, intricate pieces inspired by the grand aesthetics of the 1600s and 1800s. His corner racks, wardrobes, and bespoke furniture caught the attention of high-ranking government officials. Recognizing his extraordinary skill, they hired him to teach disabled individuals, empowering them to become self-reliant through craftsmanship.

Impressed by his impact, they offered him a permanent, secure job.

But Mansoor Khan was not meant to work for someone else. He turned down the security of a government position to protect his ultimate dream: building his own legacy and passing down his precision, secrets, and passion to his children.

Chapter 2 — The Turning Point

Trial and Revival

No true legacy is forged without hardship. Just as the family business was thriving, tragedy struck — Mansoor Khan fell severely ill. Without his guiding hands, the business lost its footing, the workshops slowed down, and everything he had built began to slip away.

But the fire he instilled in his sons could not be extinguished. History repeated itself when his second eldest son, Najir Khan, made the same brave choice his father once did. He left home and traveled to Mumbai to revive the family craft.

Initially working under someone else, Najir quickly realized that Mansoor Khan's blood ran thick in his veins — he couldn't work under anyone else's terms. He broke away to start his own business in Mumbai, calling his younger brother, Zayed Khan, to join him. Meanwhile, the eldest brother, Zakir Khan, stayed back to hold down the fort and keep the family business running in Delhi.

Together in Mumbai, Najir and Zayed reclaimed their birthright, laying the foundation for what would become a booming enterprise.

Chapter 3 — Evolution

Evolution of the Craft

While Zakir maintained the foundation in Delhi, Najir and Zayed brought a radical new vision to Mumbai. While their father was a master of grand furniture, the brothers saw a new frontier: home decor and lighting.

They shifted their focus to perfecting cane lamps and intricate decor pieces. Through years of relentless practice, they pushed the boundaries of natural materials until they achieved a new milestone:

"Today, if it can be imagined, they can craft it in cane."

For years, this craftsmanship remained a hidden gem, shared exclusively through offline markets. But the story was about to take a massive leap into the modern era.

Chapter 4 — The Digital Era

The Birth of Spec Interior

Enter Sazid Khan, the youngest brother. Having learned the ropes under Zakir Khan in Delhi, Sazid brought a fierce new energy, a modern digital mindset, and a revolutionary vision.

Recognizing the massive shift toward online shopping, Sazid launched the brand on e-commerce platforms, opening their craftsmanship to customers across the country. Soon after, Sazid relocated to Mumbai, giving birth to Spec Interior.

Under Sazid's leadership, Spec Interior transformed from a cane furniture business into a premier specialized interior design powerhouse. He expanded the brand's expertise far beyond traditional cane, conducting deep research into sustainable raw materials like bamboo, jute, raffia, and macramé.

Spec Interior began curating specialized aesthetic interiors, custom lighting, and bespoke decor for modern homes, luxury cafes, and high-end commercial spaces — triggering unprecedented business growth.

As online orders surged and specialized interior projects scaled rapidly, Sazid called upon his best friend, Aakib Khan, to be his right hand. Sazid taught Aakib every nuance of the trade, and today, they operate side-by-side, driving operations, online growth, and interior client projects seamlessly.
